TRACO Power TFI RIA12 Power Line Surge Filters
TRACO Power TFI RIA 12 Power Line Surge Filters, when placed in front of any DC/DC converter, clamps momentary over-voltage transients to a safe value, protecting the converter from being damaged. During normal operation, the output voltage follows the input voltage (Vout = Vin - 2VDC typ.) up to 168VDC where the voltage is actively clamped. The TFI surge filters handle the strict definition laid-out in the RIA12 standard allowing transients up to 20ms at 385VDC. This level of protection is specifically required in railway applications where high voltage transients are expected but can also be used for 72VDC, 96VDC, and 110VDC battery systems in railway applications.
